National campaign dangles Bruno Mars tix to help fund Philly's Rail Park

The “Cities Project by Heineken” aims to raise at least $15,000 for the park. Donors pledging at least $150 will receive a pair of tickets to the Bruno Mars 24K Magic U.S. Tour.

The Rail Park project north of Center City has been chosen as a fund-raising target by a nationwide collaboration between Heineken N.V. and the National Trust for Historic Preservation that rewards donors with Bruno Mars concert tickets.

The "Cities Project by Heineken" aims to raise at least $15,000 for the Philadelphia project, the first stage of which involves the conversion of a section of former railway stretching from near Broad and Noble Streets to a junction just past 12th and Callowhill Streets, according to a website for the campaign.

The Rail Park is one of 10 projects in cities across the United States selected to receive donations through the program, the National Trust said in a release Tuesday. Donors pledging at least $150 will receive a pair of tickets to the Bruno Mars 24K Magic U.S. Tour until all 2,600 pairs are distributed, the organization said.

Other projects eligible for donations include repairs to the New York State Pavilion in Queens, N.Y., and the rehabilitation of the Triforium public sculpture in Downtown Los Angeles.

Donations to Philadelphia's Rail Park project will help pay for trees, benches, and pathway work along the elevated viaduct, according to the fund-raising site.
