Biotech firm moving from suburbs into Pennovation labs

An Audubon-based company is relocating into the University of Pennsylvania's Pennovation Center business-and-technology incubator as the facility's first biotech tenant.

Liquid Biotech USA will lease lab space for biological and chemical research and take several spaces in the center's 110-seat coworking area, Penn's facilities and real-estate unit said in a release this week.

The company, a spinout from Penn's research-commercialization organization, owns a technology that identifies and isolates certain cells frequently found in the blood of cancer patients, according to the release.

Pennovation Center, whose other tenants are to include a Hershey Co. research lab and artificial-intelligence-developer Cognitive Operational Systems LLC, opens later this month.
