When Michele Besso and her husband bought a two-year-old single home in Roxborough, they were excited to be just the second owners of the property.

"The instant we saw it, we fell in love with it," Besso said.

They were drawn to its Northwest Philadelphia location, adjacent to parks like the Wissahickon and Gorgas and growing neighborhoods.

"We can stand on our front porch and be in Manayunk, East Falls, Mt. Airy, Germantown, Chestnut Hill, Lafayette Hill, Bala Cynwyd and Wynnefield Heights all in 10 minutes or less," she said. "And of course, everybody's favorite, Dalessandro's Steaks."

Having been built in 2005, Besso said the property didn't require any updating or work whatsoever. She even said the bold paint colors stayed.

"A turn-off for some, we loved it," she said.

The home includes four large bedrooms, one of which is a master suite with its own spa-style bathroom with jetted tub and a walk-in closet.  Outside the ensuite bath, the home includes another full bath and a powder room.

Besso said she enjoys the finished basement and the deck out back most of all.

"The full basement offers a great play room for our son," she said. "The deck is a peaceful place to rest and relax."

The family's laundry room is upstairs in the hallway, leaving future owners plenty of options for the lower level.

Besso and her husband are selling now because they are interested in downsizing, she said.

"It's a bit too much house for us at this point, but I know the right family is out there somewhere."

In spite of the sale, she says they have enjoyed their time in the neighborhood.

Their experience in Roxborough has been great, Besso said.

"Everybody is just super friendly. We can walk to the park, the ice cream stand or just around the neighborhood."

The home is currently listed by Keller Williams' Jon Miller for $449,900.
