Nurses at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children voted 311 to 49 to form a union, the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals said Wednesday.

The voting concluded Wednesday morning, and the result was tallied by the National Labor Relations Board, the union, known as PASNAP, said.

About 500 St. Christopher's nurses will join the 1,200 nurses Hahnemann University Hospital and Delaware County Memorial Hospital, who voted last month to join PASNAP.

St. Christopher's, which is in the Juniata Park/Feltonville section of Philadelphia, is owned by publicly traded Tenet Healthcare Corp., of Dallas, which also owns Hahnemann.
