The Geographical Society of Philadelphia, a nonprofit organization founded in 1891 and dedicated to exploration and geography, has elected Sherry Kumar as president.

The Geographical Society of Philadelphia, a nonprofit organization founded in 1891 and dedicated to exploration and geography, has elected Sherry Kumar as president. She is a marketing consultant. Jill Weber, an archaeologist and owner of Jet Wine Bar on South Street, has been appointed vice president. New board members include: Lorraine Corlet, asset manager at Veritable LP; Girish Nair, an IT consultant at Oracle; Jelena Vojinovic, an attorney with Greenberg Traurig LLP; and Maureen Coyle, membership director at the Pyramid Club. The society has presented famous explorers such as Theodore Roosevelt, John Glenn, Jacques Cousteau, and Robert E. Peary.

Community Learning Center, a nonprofit provider of high school equivalency and workforce development education for low-income adults in Philadelphia, has elected Caleb Garcia board vice president. He is manager, Flagship Personal Advisor Services, at Vanguard. Lindsay Dymowski, president and cofounder of Centennial Pharmacy Services, and Elizabeth Holder, system patient-experience manager at Aramark, were named board members.

Jamie McCulloh-Martin has been elected to the board of the Rowan College at Burlington County Foundation, which raises money to help students meet financial requirements. McCulloh-Martin is a partner at Strive Physical Therapy.

The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia has appointed Christina Weiss Lurie to its board. The nonprofit is a fiscal intermediary between the private sector and the Philadelphia public education system. She is president of the Eagles charitable foundation, Eagles Social Responsibility.

Kevin Crawford has joined the board of United Way of Bucks County. He is vice president of Penn Community Bank, Doylestown.

Maureen M. McBride, a partner and executive committee member at Lamb McErlane PC, West Chester, has been designated chair of the Committee on Rules of Evidence by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The committee advises and assists the court in prescribing general rules governing all court proceedings in Pennsylvania.

Main Line Senior Care Alliance said Gordon Mott has joined the boards of Main Line Senior Care, Saunders House and Bryn Mawr Terrace, which are providers of short-term rehab, long-term and personal care, and memory care. Mott is the founder and president of Main Line Telecommunications.

Rodale Institute, a leading organic agriculture research organization in Kutztown, Pa., has launched a new membership organization for organic farmers, the Organic Farmers Association. Advocacy efforts will be led by Elizabeth Kucinich, board policy chair for Rodale Institute. Kucinich has policy experience in Washington, including serving as the director of policy at the Center for Food Safety and director of government affairs at the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Stephen A. Madva, former chairman of Montgomery McCracken, has been appointed to the NCAA Committee on Infractions (COI). The COI is an independent administrative body charged with deciding infractions cases involving NCAA member institutions and their employees.

Sue Schick has been elected to the March of Dimes national board of trustees for a nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. She is chief growth officer at UnitedHealthcare Community & State.

Chris Main, a member of the International Science Advisory board at King of Prussia-based Medrisk, has been named an honorary member of the North American Spine Society. A clinical and health psychologist, Main is an expert on the biopsychosocial approach to pain management and on managing pain in the workplace. Main helped develop the first pain management program specifically for low back pain in the U.K. He has coauthored more than 200 books, monographs, reports, and peer-reviewed articles. MedRisk is a provider of physical rehabilitation and diagnostic imaging solutions for the workers' compensation industry.

ContraVir Pharmaceuticals, Inc., an Edison biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of targeted antiviral therapies, has elected  Thomas H. Adams to its board. Adams is biotechnology veteran who also currently serves as chairman of the board for Trovagene, Inc. Adams is currently a director of Synergy Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Additionally, he served as a director of IRIS International, Inc. since June 2005 and chief technology officer of IRIS from April 2006 until November 2012 when it was acquired by Danaher Corp.
