John Sehi has been promoted to senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Health Partners Plans, a Philadelphia nonprofit managed health-care organization. He had been vice president of corporate accounting.

The water utility Aqua America, Bryn Mawr, has promoted Michael J. Pickel to vice president and chief environmental officer from senior manager, environmental affairs. Pickel also manages Aqua's in-house water and wastewater laboratory and the company's water-quality services and water-resources engineering departments.

Cortendo A.B., a global biopharmaceutical company focused on orphan endocrine disorders that is incorporated in Göteborg, Sweden, and based in Radnor, has named A. Brian Davis chief financial officer and Stephen Long chief legal officer. Davis served as senior vice president and CFO at Tengion Inc. and senior vice president and CFO at Neose Technologies Inc. Long had been an attorney at the law firm Reed Smith L.L.P.

U.S. Security Care Inc., Philadelphia, has hired Stuart Nachman as director of business development. Nachman was the business-development director for Beneration L.L.C., Berwyn.

Kristen Stewart has been named director of communications for NouSoma Communications Inc., a marketing and PR communications firm in Haverford. She had been senior producer at NBC10 News.

She had been the group business director at DDB Miami/Alma DDB and director of marketing and communications at Norwegian Cruise Line.

LiveConnections, a Philadelphia nonprofit specializing in collaborative music-making and music education, has promoted Melinda Steffy to executive director, from general manager, and David Bradley, cofounder and board member, to founding director. Heather Keafer has been hired as director of development. Keafer had been senior education liaison for the City of Philadelphia's Department of Human Services and for Women Against Abuse.

Bryn Mawr Bank Corp., parent of Bryn Mawr Trust Co., has hired the following mortgage-banking professionals as part of an initiative to expand its presence in the residential mortgage business: Thomas S. Erol Veznedaroglu has joined Drexel University College of Medicine as chair of the department of neurosurgery and director of the newly created Drexel Neurosciences Institute. The institute will provide an integrated approach to neuroscience-related patient care, research, and education.
