Patrick Murphy to receive JFK award

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The first veteran of the Iraq War to serve in Congress and the leader of Project HEALTH will be at Harvard University to receive this year's John F. Kennedy New Frontier Awards.

U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, served in Iraq in 2003-2004 as a captain of the 82d Airborne Division. He's currently in his second term in the House.

Rebecca Onie is the founder and chief executive of Boston-based Project HEALTH. The organization uses volunteer college students to provide extra assistance to low-income patients at hospitals and health centers around the nation.

The New Frontier awards are being presented today by JFK's daughter, Caroline Kennedy. They honor commitment to public service by Americans under the age of 40.
