Air Products in another China deal

Air Products & Chemicals Inc. will be supplying technology and equipment for processing liquefied natural gas for an LNG project being built in Yinchaun, China.

The Allentown-based company, which supplies oxygen and other gases to the industrial and medical sectors, did not disclose terms, but said it would be helping with two liquefaction trains (production units), each of which will produce 400,000 tons a year of LNG for Ningxia Hanas Natural Gas Company Ltd.

The units are targeted for completion in the second half of 2011, Air Products said.

The company has announced several projects in China: It will acquire equipment and build more to supply industrial gases for Chinese steel manufacturer Xingtai Iron and Steel Corp. Ltd.; and a joint venture company based in Sichuan, China, will build an air separation unit for PetroChina Company Ltd.

It also recently announced an agreement to supply gas and equipment to a DuPont Apollo Ltd. plant in Shenzhen that makes solar power equipment.

Air Products had fiscal 2008 revenues of $10.4 billion, operations in over 40 countries, and 21,000 employees around the world.    - Roslyn Rudolph
