TD Bank: Wednesday balances available

TD Bank said this morning that customers can get their account balances as of Wednesday evening, as the bank continues to work out bugs that developed when it continued incorporating Commerce Bank operations.

TD Bank said this morning that customers can get their account balances as of Wednesday evening, as the bank continues to work out bugs that developed when it continued incorporating Commerce Bank operations.

The bank said in a statement this morning that all postings were up-to-date as of Wednesday night, but that there was now a problem with last night's batch processing.

"We are working nonstop to resolve this issue," the bank said in the statement. "We are sorry about the inconvenience and we thank our customers for their patience and understanding."

Customers reported this morning that they were being limited to $250 withdrawals.

The bank said it expected to have current account balances available later today.

"We will reverse fees, charges or interest incurred as a result of this disruption," the bank statement said.

TD Bank added that bank employees would seek to resolve "any outstanding issues" that customers faced.

Canada's TD Bank Financial Group bought Cherry Hill's Commerce Bancorp Inc. in March 2008 for $7.1 billion. TD Bank's share of the local market is 12.9 percent, or $15.24 billion, based on the latest deposit figures, which are from October 2008.    - Roslyn Rudolph
