Virtua breaking ground today on Washington Twp. site

Virtua Health plans to officially break ground today on its Health and Wellness Center in Washington Township.

A ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the site, on Hurffville-Cross Keys Road near the intersection with Fries Mill Road.

The $31 million, 225,000-square-foot facility on about 40 acres is expected to open in summer 2009.

The building will house a treatment center for minor, unexpected injuries and illnesses, a high-risk pregnancy center, and a diabetes management program, as well as imaging, physical therapy and specialists' offices.

It also will have a fitness center, spa and cafe.
