Steven M. Altschuler, former longtime chief executive of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, is leaving the University of Miami Health System 18 months into his tenure, the Miami Herald reported Monday.

A letter from University of Miami president Julio Frank said Altschuler was resigning from his positions as executive vice president and CEO of UHealth, in southern Florida, effective Sept. 15 “to pursue other interests in biotechnology.”

Altschuler retired in June 2015 from CHOP after a 15-year tenure.
