Liz Robinson, the executive director of the Energy Coordinating Agency, a nonprofit she founded in 1984 to deliver energy services and weatherization to low-income clients, has submitted her resignation effective Aug. 1, ECA’s board announced Monday.
ECA, which has a budget of about $10.5 million and employs 65 people, administers energy conservation, education, heating, and home repair services through its neighborhood energy centers in low-income areas. It has built relationships with numerous government agencies and utilities, and it also established the Knight Training Center, which instructs adults for work in the clean energy industry.
Since its founding in 1984, ECA said it has weatherized 45,000 homes, repaired or replaced 50,000 heating systems, provided water conservation services to 37,000 homes, and prevented over 75,000 tons of carbon emissions.
ECA’s board named Steve Luxton, the director of conservation, as interim executive director while it conducts a national search for a new chief executive. Robinson, 67, will serve as a consultant to ECA through the transition and remain active in energy efficiency efforts, said Nancy Mifflin, an ECA board member.
