A new federal government website allows a car owner to find out if the car is involved in any recalls, by entering the vehicle's identification number.

The site is https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/

Once a user enters a VIN, the site will show all uncompleted recalls for that car.

A vehicle's identification number can be found on the top of the dashboard on the driver's side or on the driver's side door post.

The new website was unveiled by the Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
