Seattle to Comcast: Give us what Philly got

Seattle is looking for the same deal Comcast gave Philadelphia Thursday to secure a 15-year cable-franchise agreement. The Seattle Times reported Friday that Mayor Ed Murray and Councilmember Bruce Harrell sent a letter to Comcast saying the City Council wouldn't approve a new 10-year cable franchise agreement unless it received what Philadelphia is getting.

The Seattle Times reported Friday that Mayor Ed Murray and Councilmember Bruce Harrell sent a letter to Comcast saying the City Council wouldn't approve a new 10-year cable franchise agreement unless it received what Philadelphia is getting.

The Philadelphia agreement, approved by City Council's public-property committee Thursday, includes added discounts for low-income Philadelphians, commitments to paying workers a living wage, and installation of a new network in more than 200 city buildings.

Philadelphia City Council will vote on the agreement this week.

The Seattle council was to have voted Monday on the new agreement.
