EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Atlantic City International Airport will spend more than $28 million to upgrade its terminal in hopes of attracting more international flights.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Atlantic City International Airport will spend more than $28 million to upgrade its terminal in hopes of attracting more international flights.

Bart Mueller, head of the authority that runs the airport, says the idea is to make it more attractive to international carriers.

Currently, Canada-based WestJet is the only air carrier with regular international service at Atlantic City. It flies between Atlantic City International and Toronto four times a week, but will do it daily starting Jan. 1.

Getting more international travelers has long been a goal of Atlantic City casino operators, particularly with the resort mired in a three-year revenue decline.

Additions include three new boarding gates and baggage carousels.
