Phila.-area gas price unchanged

The average for a gallon of regular no-lead remains at $2.74 today in the five-county Philadelphia area, matching its level of a week ago, according to the Automobile Association of America.

South Jersey's average continued at $2.51, down 1 cent from a week ago.

The national average was $2.65, down 1 cent from yesterday and 3 cents from a week ago.

Philly-area diesel was averaging $3.05 today, also unchanged from yesterday, but 1 cent more than a week ago.

South Jersey's diesel average was $2.73, unchanged from yesterday but down 1 cent from a week ago.

The national average for diesel was unchanged at $2.83, unchanged from a week ago.

Meanwhile, oil prices ticked higher as OPEC said the world would consume more crude in 2010 than previously expected, and China said its economy improved.

Benchmark crude for December delivery added 9 cents to $79.14 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. In London, Brent crude for December delivery rose 35 cents to $77.85 on the ICE Futures exchange.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries revised its previous estimates for global oil demand growth to 750,000 barrels per day, up 50,000 barrels a day from last month's estimate.

But OPEC also warned that higher oil prices "could dampen world oil demand in the coming year."
