Michael G. Rubin, head of GSI Commerce, the King of Prussia-based online-order-fulfillment company, will be a featured ceo on the CBS program “Undercover Boss,” next Sunday March 21, 9 pm.

"As the company has grown larger, I have missed the opportunity to be close to the day-to-day activities that are at the center of what we do and what enables us to deliver value to our clients and consumers,” Rubin says in this statement.  “Undercover Boss allowed me to better connect with the thousands of associates that make our company so successful." He says he took the "amazing experience" straight "to heart."

GSI also says it's "the only Pennsylvania-based company" to do the Undercover Boss thing so far. "In addition to filming at GSI’s corporate headquarters in the suburbs of Philadelphia, portions of the episode were shot at the company’s customer contact center in Melbourne, Fla., and at its fulfillment facilities located near Louisville and Richwood, Ky."

Mr. Rubin should make it a point to visit with employees and not managers. It's the employees that make or break his type of business. I know because I am a business owner and I was always in touch with my restaurant staff. I invited them out for drinks frequently so that they may tell me how to keep customers happy!!
