Godshall's Meats to be employee-owned

Godshall's Quality Meats Inc. will become employee-owned through an employee stock ownership plan, the Telford company said Wednesday.

The third-generation family company, founded as a butcher shop in 1945, is best-known for its Turkey bacon, but also makes scrapple, Lebanon Balogna, and other products.

Godshall's owners, Mark Godshall, Floyd Kratz, and Ron Godshall, wanted to ensure that the company remains independent, the company said.

"As Ron, Floyd, and I looked to the future, we wanted to be prepared for the future, one in which folks didn’t have to worry about ownership by a competitor or outside investors, freeing them to do what they do best,” company president Mark Godshall said.

Godshall's employs about 400. It declined to disclose annual revenue.
