The Pet High Chair sells for $49.95.

Hammacher Schlemmer's motto is "Offering the best, the only, and the unexpected for 162 years."

I'll give them the unexpected on this one: the Pet High Chair.

Company spokeswoman Bree O'Day says the chair sells well. If you want to know more, click here.

Hammacher Schlemmer says the chair "permits your dog or cat to accompany you at the dinner table," though it's only suitable for animals up to 10 pounds - thankfully, my lab-size pooch doesn't qualify.

"By providing an alternative to sitting on your lap, running disruptively underfoot, or outright banishment, the chair assuages a pet (and its owner's) frustration, and promotes more refined behavior," the company says.

Refined behavior? Clearly, they're talking about some other universe than the one where my dog lives.
