Universal Health ups Vegas hospital stake

Universal Health Services Inc. has agreed to buy out minority interests in its six acute-care hospitals in the Las Vegas area, including one under construction, for $445 million, the King of Prussia company said Monday.

Las Vegas is UHS's largest market, accounting for 13 percent of its $9 billion in revenue last year, UHS's annual report said.

"This transaction reflects our continued confidence in the performance of our hospitals in the Las Vegas market," Alan B. Miller, UHS's founder and chief executive officer, said in a news release.
