Centrak sold for $140 million

A British company has purchased CenTrak Inc., a Newtown company with a system designed to help health-care providers keep track of equipment, for $140 million, the buyer, Halma P.L.C., said.

A British company has purchased CenTrak Inc., a Newtown company with a system designed to help health-care providers keep track of equipment, for $140 million, the buyer, Halma P.L.C., said.

Halma, which produces sensors and other devices for numerous sectors, said in its release Friday that CenTrak had profit before taxes last year of $10.2 million on revenue $43.5 million in revenue. That does not include deferred revenue of $6.6 million.

CenTrak's management team, which includes two Drexel University engineering graduates, will continue running the company out of the current location, Halma said.

Among CenTrak's clients is the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The company in 2008 received a $350,000 investment from Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

A CenTrak spokesman declined to provide further information.
