Pa. gambling revenue hits new high

The upbeat report followed the opening last month of SugarHouse Casino's expanded gaming floor and as the partnership between Cordish Cos. and Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment Inc. are gearing up to start construction on Philadelphia's second casino, Live! Philadelphia in the stadium distric of South Philadelphia.

Revenue from poker and other table games was up 7.8 percent in 2015, to $808.1 million from $749.5 million. The state's 12 casinos won $2.37 billion from slots players, up 1.99 percent from $2.32 billion,the gaming regulators said.

The four casinos in the Philadelphia area had $1.19 billion in revenue, up 3.9 percent form $1.14 billion the year before. Slots revene was up 2.8 percent locally, while table games revenue gained 6.6 percent. Parx Casino in Bensalem remained the largest local operator by far.
