The Philadelphia Zoo has elected F. William McNabb III chairman of the board. McNabb, chairman and chief executive officer of Vanguard, has served on the board since 2006 and on multiple zoo board committees. He also serves on the board of directors for the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. He replaces Jay H. Calvert Jr., who has served as chairman since 2008.

The Insurance Society of Philadelphia, a 114-year-old nonprofit, has elected Dianne Salter to a two-year term as chair. She is executive vice president of corporate insurance services for Thomas Jefferson University, Main Line Health, and Magee Rehabilitation Hospital.

Stradley Ronon counsel Brian P. Seaman has been appointed chair of the firm's diversity committee, which focuses on the recruitment and retention of diverse attorneys and staff of the Philadelphia firm.

Marissa Parker has been named to the board of Minds Matter of Philadelphia, a nonprofit that guides high-achieving, low-income Philadelphia students from sophomore year through graduation in gaining acceptance to college and preparing for real-world success. Parker is an associate at Stradley Ronon, Philadelphia.

School Lane Charter School, Bensalem, has elected Nicole Nelson and Ed Guster to its board. Nelson is a licensed behavioral specialist. Guster is an inspector for the Environmental Protection Agency.

Makindus Inc., a Doylestown specialty-pharmaceutical development company focused on ophthalmology and rare diseases, has named the following to its scientific advisory board: Marco A. Zarbin, professor and chair, Institute of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, professor of neurosciences, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, and chief, department of ophthalmology, University Hospital, Newark, N.J.; Adrian Koh Hock Chuan, director, Retinal Centre International; Ulrich Kellner, AugenZentrum Siegburg professor, Medical Head MVZ ADTC Siegburg GmbH; and Paul S. Bernstein, professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences, Moran Eye Center of the University of Utah, and adjunct professor, University of Utah department of pharmacology and toxicology.

Children's Village, a Philadelphia nonprofit that provides early childhood education and school-age academic enrichment, has elected as board vice president Meredith Jermann, vice president, credit underwriting, at PNC Bank. Named as board members were Matthew A. Fontana, associate at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney P.C.; Jen K. Lai, data manager, division of vascular surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania; and James Martin, president of Jim Martin Associates.

Jacquelyn Gordon has been appointed to the board of the Society of Financial Service Professionals' Greater Philadelphia Chapter. She is an associate at Stradley Ronon, Philadelphia.

JEVS Human Services, a nonprofit human-services organization, has named Roberta Pichini to its board. She is a medical-malpractice and product-liability attorney.

Richard J. Odorisio, chief operating officer of the Valley Forge Hotel Management Association, has been elected chairman of the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board, King of Prussia.
