The Delaware River Port Authority plans to spend about $13.7 million to rebuild the elevated PATCO tracks in Westmont in a 30-month project slated to start this summer.

The Westmont project was part of about $18 million in spending that a DRPA committee approved Wednesday. The projects are to be considered by the full board May 20.

The Westmont track work would not interfere with weekday PATCO train service, as the work would be done during nights and weekends, chief engineer Mike Venuto said.

Other projects approved by the DRPA operations and maintenance committee Wednesday included:

$2.4 million to rehabilitate the Fifth Street tunnel in Old City, near the Ben Franklin Bridge.

$761,000 more for consultant LTK Engineering Services, which is overseeing the performance of DRPA's $194 million contract with Alstom Transport Inc. to rebuild the 120-car PATCO commuter rail fleet. The payment brings to $8.8 million the payments to LTK.

$522,800 to Chammings Electric Inc. to replace the power-distribution system at the Commodore Barry Bridge administration building.

$502,053 to URS Corp. to monitor construction of new ramps linking the Betsy Ross Bridge to I-95.

$126,350 to Daktronics Corp. for 10 new electronic message signs at bridge toll plazas.
