The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities on Wednesday approved $1.15 million in Clean Energy Program incentives for energy efficiency upgrades at 36 Rutgers University locations.
The incentives will cover most of the $1.54 million cost to replace older lighting with reduced wattage fluorescents and LEDs with occupancy sensor controls. The university also plans to replace fan and pump motors in heating and air-conditioning systems and water supply systems.
The measures are expected to save more than 5 million kilowatt hours annually, reducing the university's energy costs by more than $617,424.
