The Philadelphia Parking Authority on Wednesday announced a pilot program to deal with the parking of motorcycles and scooters.

The program, which will run through October, will prohibit motorcycles and scooters from parking on sidewalks along commercial streets in Center City and University City.

On streets with residential permit parking, motorcycles and scooters will be permitted to park on sidewalks in front of the operator's residence.

The Parking Authority also has installed 47 corrals accommodating 180 motorcycles or scooters in Center City and University City.
