Sandra D. Long, an Inquirer managing editor, has been named to oversee the possible consolidation of the photography desks, copy desks, editorial assistants, and photo-toning functions at both The Inquirer and Daily News, owned by Philadelphia Media Holdings L.L.C.
Long, who will become vice president of newsroom operations for both papers, joined The Inquirer in 1984 as a journalist and has held several management positions.
For a decade, Long has served as liaison between the Inquirer newsroom and the company's business departments and has "developed excellent working relationships with all divisions throughout Philadelphia Newspapers," said a statement by Mark J. Frisby, the Daily News publisher and executive vice president at PMH.
