first friday scranton
Take a stroll around the city during our First Friday art show and view the showcased talents of our region’s artists.

Each summer the calendar fills up fast, so you’ll want to be sure to mark down the date for the festivals we have planned in Lackawanna County!

On Saturday, July 29th plan to spend the day amongst over 100 talented vendors. The 5th Annual Arts on the Square highlights the talents of local artists and craftsmen. Vendor booths wrap around the beautiful Courthouse Square in the center of downtown Scranton, with live music playing and homemade food available to enjoy!

Drum roll please! Come visit Veterans Memorial Stadium starting at 7pm on Saturday, July 29th for a great night of music, fun and total entertainment from eight outstanding drum corps. The Parade of Champions show will perform opening ceremonies along with the American Legion, highlight drum corps history, and of course deliver excellent competitive performances.

Jazz + Food + Spirits = An Excellent Summer Weekend! Spend the weekend and enjoy the soulful lineup scheduled for the 13th Annual Scranton Jazz Festival on August 4th – 6th. World renowned artists such as, jazz icon Stanley Clarke and jazz guitarist/vocalist John Pizzarreli will be headlining the festival with a stellar set of bands accompanying them throughout the weekend. Since the festival is held at the historic Radisson Hotel in downtown Scranton, plan to take a stroll around the city during our First Friday art show and view the showcased talents of our region’s artists.

Blend education with fun and create a Planes & Trains weekend for yourself. Join us August 12th – 13th when Wilkes-Barre / Scranton International Airport hosts the Northeastern Pennsylvania Air Show featuring jaw-dropping extravaganzas in the great blue sky! Various acts are set to perform, including retired USAF pilots, formation aerobatic performances, and jet demo pilots. When you finish looking up in the sky, venture over to the tracks at Steamtown National Historic Site and check out the historic railroad yard. With the unique live steam experience and operating railroad facility, the locomotive enthusiast will be thrilled by the chance to ride the “Scranton Limited”.

When summer days start to shorten, we look forward to one thing… La Festa Italiana, Scranton’s annual Labor Day weekend Italian festival! Held on Courthouse Square in the heart of downtown Scranton, authentic Italian food vendors line the streets with continuous live entertainment.
