Rosé All Day at this year’s Ladies Day

Out of the many exciting events throughout Devon, one of the most anticipated is Ladies Day. Women from all over the area don their best hats and attire for the annual hat competition and reception.

This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is sure to be filled with lots of rosé to go with the event’s theme- “Rosé All Day.”

“We decided on Rosé All Day because it just seemed like the perfect fit for an afternoon of finery and fun at Devon. This is always such an elegant event and we know that the creativity of the ladies who attend will really shine with the gorgeous possibilities this theme provides,” said Kathy Moore, Ladies Day Committee co-chair.

The day begins in the Devon Pavilion with the hat contest. Participants compete for coveted prizes in six different categories: Best in Show, Most Fascinating, Best Hat to Toe, Best Purse and Hat Pairing, Best Group and Rosiest.

A panel of celebrity judges chooses the winners. One longtime judge is Carson Kressley, known not only for his equestrian prowess but his role on the show ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.’ The team of judges also includes 6abc meteorologist Adam Joseph, SAVVY Mainline editor Caroline O’Halloran and Bri Mott, author of

The hats and outfits are always unique. Laura Chadha, Ladies Day Committee co-chair, recalls one of her favorites. “A handmade, hand-painted hat and purse combination is one I will never forget. The scenes, painted with watercolor, were so beautiful and made it such a one-of-a kind piece,” she said.

“Devon Ladies Day is filled with many traditions. I love the vibrant atmosphere of Ladies Day and I love the creativity seen in the hats and outfits,” Chadha continued.

Following the hat competition, all of the ladies are invited to a reception with hor d’oeuvres and surely a few glasses of rosé.

“Part of the charm of Devon Ladies Day is the history and tradition of the event, the photographs, the promenade, the stunning outfits and the ever popular hat contest,” said Moore.

Ladies Day is a great and unique way for guests to visit Devon and enjoy a day with friends.

Sponsors Brightview Senior Living, Springton Tennis Club, The Baldwin School, Anthropologie, Barbara Brodsky Comprehensive Breast Center and Polka Dots help make the day such a success.

Tickets are available on the Devon website, at the ticket office or at the door for a day filled with rosé and fabulous hats.
