What is this blog about?

When I’m asked why I decided to promote entrepreneurship amongst urban youths, the answer is quite simple. I’m spoiled and I hold my friends close.

When I'm asked why I decided to promote entrepreneurship amongst urban youths, the answer is quite simple.  I'm spoiled and I hold my friends close.

As a child, I was taught that I could do anything I wanted as long as I put my mind to it.  Most kids are taught this.  Yet somewhere along the road of life, they forget—and they settle for doing what they need to do instead of what they want to do.  I'm too spoiled to forget.  I'm a firm believer that cakes are meant to be eaten too so I never bought into the idea of a sucky job.  I always knew I'd be able to do what I love and get paid for it.

Some of my closest friends, on the other hand, weren't so fortunate.  Having a sibling that's 10 years older than you who ends up moving out at the age of 16, sort of qualifies you as an only child.  Therefore, I looked at my friends as family and what I want for myself, I want for them as well.  When I earned A's in class and my friends didn't, I would be their tutor and motivator.

Now as an adult, some of my friends and associates have brilliant ideas but some need a little guidance and some may need a little kick in the rear.  So I decided to start collecting stories from the people who are doing what they love and getting paid for it, so that I can share it with the people who come from where I come from.  It may sound altruistic but in all actuality, I just don't want to be at a Yacht party and be the only one who can quote Martin episodes.
