Whither high-speed rail?

Yesterday's appearance by Vice President  Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood at 30th Street Station, to tout another proposal for high-speed rail funding, got limited ink in today, as you can see from this story. What do you air travelers think of spending money on rail, especially in the Northeast Corridor? Tell me, and I'll update this post tomorrow with my thoughts.
