US Airways matches Southwest's PHL-BOS fares

POSTED: Wednesday, February 17, 2010, 11:08 AM

This morning's update in The Inquirer on yesterday's big news -- Southwest will start nonstop PHL-Boston flights on June 27 -- includes new information about US Airways response to the announcement. PHL's Big Kahuna lowered its nonstop fares as displayed in online travel agency Web sites from $550 each way for most seats (plus taxes and fees), even with advance purchase, to $59 (plus taxes and fees) for advance purchase tickets. Here's this morning's full story.

So USAir, after GOUGING PHL-BOS fliers when AirTran dropped that route (R/T went from $88 to $1200!) is now going to try to compete with their terrible service and ever worse attitude? Go SW! Smoke USAir!
