The airline fee-for-all continues apace

The news services yesterday picked up on the fact that US Airways is  sharply raising the fee for very heavy checked bags, bringing it in line with what an airline spokeswoman says other carriers charge for big bags. Read more about that at this link. That bit of news was one example cited by travel writer Chris Elliott  in an essay on whether airlines think they've reached a limit to customer tolerance of fees for all sorts of things once included in ticket prices. His conclusion: Absolutely not. Read his treatise on the topic here.
