NTSB probes midair near-collision

Didd you notice we didn't call this incident a "near miss?" The planes didn't nearly miss each other. They missed each other. It was almost a collison, a total disaster off the Jersey shore on Jan. 20. An American widebodied 777 jet enroute from New York JFK to Brazil came within a mile of two Air Force cargo planes headed to McGuire AFB in central Jersey. The incident represents a serious problem of shared and congested airspace around major metro areas. Read more about it and the NTSB investigation here.
