Airline passengers, revenue down in '09, now recovering

Two reports today confirm with data what we've known, or sensed in recent months about the depressing effect of the recession on airline traffic. The U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics says that the number of passengers on U.S. airlines last year declined 5.3 percent last year from 2008, and was more than 8 percent below what it was in the record year of 2007.
