The column: Congress likely to act on passenger rights

POSTED: Monday, August 3, 2009, 10:10 AM

Airlines stand a good chance this fall of facing new regulations governing just how long they can keep passengers stranded on the tarmac during long pre-flight delays, and what those trapped on a plane should expect to receive during the ordeal. Today's Winging It column takes a closer look at what's happened to passenger rights legislation over the 10 years since runways strandings prompted airlines to adopt voluntary standards. While very rare, such incidents are so unpleasant for those they affect that Congress is likely to act on proposed legislation this fall. Find the column here.
