The Christian Science Monitor has a good explanatory piece today about why U.S. airlines aren't likely to lose as much money this year as some of their foreign counterparts. Read it here.

This one is easy... Cut flights,, cut union members, raise, ala carte fees, charge $5.00 more for each checked bag,, do away with frequent flyer programs...see..easy..YHS

YHS nails it, Tom. I think you'll find airlines are having their planes fly slower, too. The timetables for my trips to the west coast are stretched out. Besides saving fuel, if they are late in departing, there's a better chance of making an on-time arrival by burning more fuel and flying faster.
