FAA can't auction airport slots, GAO says

The Government Accountability Office has thrown cold water on the U.S. Departmnent of Transporation and FAA's effort to solve airport and airspace congestion by auctioning landing slots at major airports. The system hadn't been tried at PHL, but it could have been if reductions in flight schedules voluntarily had not been working. Read more about it
