Tornado watch for Delaware

In a winter that keeps on giving, tornado watch for Delaware; flood watch region-wide.

The National Weather Service has posted a tornado watch for the entire state of Delaware until 5 p.m.

That's in addition to the flood watch for the Diamond State and the rest of the region until 10 p.m.

The temperature contrasts are rather astonishing, ranging from 69 at 11 a.m. in Georgetown, Del., to 38 in Doylestown.

The surge of warm air is trying to push northwest, but obviously has encountered resistance.

Meanwhile, dense fog covers the region north of the front, and combined with dew points above freezing, it is helping to erase some of the snow pack.

The flood threat remains, however, the rain should come and go quickly. Gage levels on the Delaware at Trenton have been fairly steady. The Schuylkill at Norristown has been rising, but remains well below flood stage.

When the rains arrive, probably early to mid-afternoon, do expect road ponding in any place where drains are clogged by snow and ice.
