Storm ravages region

Trees down; transit disrupted; over 130,000 power outages.

The potent cluster of storms that ripped through the region has left more than 130,000 PECO customers in the dark.

Multiple trees were downed and several fires, possibly started by lightning strikes, broke out across the region. Temperatures reportedly dropped more than 20 degrees between the storm's beginning and end.

Service is suspended on the following SEPTA Regional Rail lines: Airport, Fox Chase and Cynwyd. The Media/Elwyn line is running, but it will end at Malvern Station.Norristown Highspeed line service has been restored between the 69th Street Transportation Center and Radnor Station. Service remains suspended between Radnor and Norristown. Passengers will most likely experience delays.

SEPTA's bus, trolley, and subway service is operating on schedule. SEPTA will accept SEPTA Regional Rail tickets on the Market Frankford Line, Broad Street Line, Bus and Trolley Routes.

PATCO lines were also suspended in the aftermath of potent storms that raced through the area at 35 m.p.h.

Amtrak service between Washington D.C. and Philadelphia is temporarily suspended and Keystone Service between Philadelphia and Harrisburg is delayed.

Philadelphia International Airport is reporting increased departure delays averaging about one hour and 45 minutes, and arrivals are delayed about one hour and 53 minutes. The ground stop has been lifted.

In Philadelphia, firefighters were called to Delaware and East Columbia avenues for a building collapse. Initial emergency reports indicate several people were trapped and have since been hospitalized.

In Delaware County rescue crews were summoned to a home next to a firehouse in Chester Heights after a tree crashed into it, according to the Breaking News Network. One firefighter reportedly suffered minor injuries.

PECO reported outages in Chester and Delaware Counties. Outages are reported all across the Jersey shore.
