Snowflakes falling

POSTED: Friday, January 25, 2013, 3:03 PM

This is not the best news for the late-day commute: Snow is falling already in parts of Chester and Delaware Counties.

The National Weather Service forecast of 1 to 2 inches hasn't changed -- with an isolated 3 here and there.

Ordinarily, that would be no big deal, but the timing couldn't be much worse. On Fridays, the evening peak commute tends to start a little earlier.

The steadiest snow is forecast to arrive around nightfall and continue into the the early evening, with everything coming to an by midnight.

When it does, this has a shot at becoming the biggest snowfall of the season so far in Philadelphia.

Actually, that wouldn't take much. The current king is the 1.4 inches that fell Monday.

The seasonal total stands at 2.5, with no big virtual threats on the horizon.
