1 to 3 inches of snow possible overnight

After the melt, snow tries to make comeback

Computer models have been waffling on this all week, but now it appears that some snow is going to fall overnight.

The National Weather Service has just posted a "winter weather advisory" for the entire region for 1 to 3 inches of snow.

It says the precipitation might start as rain but change to snow overnight and continue until about daybreak.

Given the forecast temperatures, this should not be a big deal on the roads as readings should stay at or above freezing, and paved surfaces should retain some of the warmth they've stored in the last 36 hours.

Meanwhile, the storm threat for Monday night into Tuesday remains, but at this point the details are elusive.

And the given the complexities -- this is nothing like the Jan. 22-23 scenario -- it's likely that this particular threat will undergo multiple permurations between now and Monday and perhaps Tuesday.

We'll count on Glenn Schwartz to keep us apprised, as he has done.
