The 10.11 inches at Philadelphia International Airport this month sets 142-year record.

Record wet June, officially

At 11:33 last night, the National Weather Service declared June 2013 to be the all-time June rain champ for Philadelephia.

Officially, 0.74 inches was measured from the rain gauge, inching the monthly total to 10.11, or 0.05 above the 10.06 of 1938, the former title holder.

In addition, Wilmington set a record with 11.91 inches for the month, inundating the old standard of 9.90 in 2003.

We mention again that the June of 2003, along with that of 2006, remain in the top 5 among wet Junes in Philly.

June 2013 will be getting two more chances to add to its records, with showers possible today and tomorrow.

Rain now has fallen on five consecutive days, and showers are in the forecast all the way to next Friday.
