Hurricanes: Tropics simmering, not popping
The forecasters have remained steadfast in calling for a monster hurricane season, but as the fifth anniversary of Katrina approaches, thankfully this season has shown no indication of rivaling the horror of 2005.

I moved from Philly to SE Florida in early '09. It's amazing to see the difference in the coverage: this little posting sums everything up nicely in one sentence--the similar blog on the website of the Fort Lauderdale paper goes into overdrive the minute a little blip is spotted off the coast of Africa. As I'm writing this, we're on our fifth named system of the year...only one came anywhere close to us, and it was in and out before most people noticed...but it's worse than when a major snow is predicted in Philly. (I still remember those...) len p- Thankfully, the forecasters were wrong...AGAIN. by the way..the snow forecast for the past winter were WRONG...Have YOU learned anything yet???
- Can we run Bolaris out of town again?
- But don't worry. The predicated monster season didn't happen last year or the year before. And so far, thankfully, it isn't happening this year. But, sadly, one of these years it will happen and then the forecasters can all pat themselves on the back for having predicted it.
