Cloudburst over South Jersey

Flood warning, water rescues reported in Cumberland County.

The National Weather Service reported numerous water rescues as a result of the profoundly heavy downpours set off by a cool front.

Farther west, however, in the immediate Philadelphia area, the weather service says the severe-storm threat is about over.

As of 8 p.m., less than 0.15 inches of rain had fallen into the official rain gauge at Philadelphia International Airport.

To the north and west, rain totals evidently were even more meager, and that's of some concern.

As we posted earlier, Philadelphia and some neighboring counties saw their rain deficits grow in June, and this would not be the first time they have been snubbed by storms.

At this writing, no one in the Vineland area is complaining about rain deficits.
