Severe storms possible after dark; coastal flood advisory.

Bangers coming?

POSTED: Friday, June 1, 2012, 6:50 AM

Storms packing potentially damaging winds are expected tonight, particularly from the city on south and east. With any luck though, it should hold off until after rush hour.

Also, with a steady onshore wind, the National Weather Service has posted a coastal-flood advisory along the Shore and the Delaware River.

Typically, that's not a big deal, but when the Delaware spills it can close off some roads.

The projected rain amounts have been trimmed back a splash from yesterday's, but an inch or more is possible.

Once again, last month rainfall was below normal in Philadelphia, and the total precipitation since the first of the year has been about two-thirds of normal.

The rains might even hold off until after the start of the Phillies-Marlins game, but it's unlikely that the game will be rain-free.

Attention all right-handed hitters: The steady maritime winds from the east will be blowing out to left.

Maybe the winds will be strong enough to blow this city into Lake Erie.

@meagain: Why don't you take you always negative attitude and lack of any solutions to anything and go far away. I'm sure any other place would love to have your gloom and doom living with them.

@meagain: Sorry, I'd have to agree, you seem a wretched and pathetic excuse for a human being. Why don't you head up to Lake Erie without the city or the rest of us and do us all a favor?

It's Friday so the Tonner would be stocking up on Genny Cream Ale anyway but he's going to pick up a little extra in case these storms turn out to be a tornado that rips the local Booze Barn in two.

The Tonner is a wise and all-knowing being with a mastery of the English language. Genny Cream Ale is the nectar of the intellegencia.
