Christie aide warns of AC school closings

TRENTON -- The Christie administration on Tuesday said it would be forced to close Atlantic City’s schools if the city doesn’t remit tax revenues it owes the school district.

Lawmakers in Trenton are debating how to prevent a financial collapse in the seaside gambling hub. Gov. Christie's commissioner of community affairs said Monday that the city was running a $100 million deficit on a budget of roughly $250 million and that it carried some $550 million in debt.
