Watch: Jim Carrey Spoofs Matthew McConaughey Lincoln Ads on 'SNL'

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - In his third "Saturday Night Live" hosting gig last night, Jim Carrey took aim at Matthew McConaughey's series of ads for Lincoln's MKC sport utility vehicle, pondering some of life's deeper questions.

The running bit is actually a spoof of a spoof -- the Lincoln ads are a play on McConaughey's "True Detective" character Rust Cohle. Carrey manages to pull it off, though, wondering why McConaughey's first act after winning an Oscar for "Dallas Buyer's Club" was to star in car commercials.

"Sometimes you gotta go back to actually move forward," Carrey said. "I mean, take a big step back. Like go from winning an Oscar to doing a car commercial."

Kenan Thompson even made a surprise appearances in one of the three ads, posing as Allstate spokesman Dennis Haysbert.
