On Tuesday's episode of the The Daily Show, correspondent Jason Jones brought in an FBI hostage negotiator to try to help talk GOP strategists down and get them to release the government without harming it.

Clad in a bulletproof vest and armed with a megaphone, Jones sits down with Republican strategist Noelle Nikpur to talk about Obamacare and the government shutdown.

As Nikpur rationalizes the GOP stance on the shutdown and defunding Obamacare, the former FBI hostage negotiator feeds information and strategy into Jones' earpiece, trying to coach him through the interview so that they can get the Republicans to release the hostage unharmed.

At one point, Jones comments how ridiculously well this joke of a metaphor is working out for The Daily Show.
