Tinder will now accommodate celebrity users by verifying their profile

Tinder isn’t just for the average folk anymore; celebrities need to participate in their fair share of hook ups and flirty mingling.

Tinder isn't just for the average folk anymore; celebrities need to participate in their fair share of hook ups and flirty mingling.

The mobile "dating" app has revolutionized the way we meet like-minded single individuals. By gathering targeted demographic information, pulled from user Facebook profiles and info, Tinder is able to point you in the direction of compatible matches. Because of its wild popularity, the app has surprisingly caught on with Hollywood.

In an exclusive interview with Hollywood Reporter, Tinder's CEO Sean Rad said that he's instituting a verification program for the app, similar to that of Twitter's blue check mark. If celebrities do use Facebook they are likely residing under a pseudonym, sometimes with a false photo, so as to lay low on the social networking site, but in turn it ends up harming their Tinder-appeal because the information pulled from their page is inaccurate. This leads users to believe that the accounts are fake, but soon that will no longer be an issue. Reportedly, celebs like Lindsay Lohan, Aston Kutcher (who recently got engaged), and Josh Groban are or were avid users of the app but now they'll be able to use it under their real identity. "This will allow celebrities to enter Tinder in a different way," says Rad. U.S. gold medalist snowboarder Jamie Anderson also gave it a boost among the famous because of her mentioning it in her interview with Us Weekly – it turns out stars really are "just like us"

Tinder is likely in full use down at SXSW, so that dream you have of hooking up with your favorite musician is not so far-fetched.
